Country Reports on Terrorism U.S. law requires the Secretary of State to provide Congress, by April 30 of each year, a full and complete report on terrorism with regard to those countries and groups meeting criteria set forth in the legislation. This annual report is entitled Country Reports on Terrorism. Beginning with the report for 2004, it replaced the previously published Patterns of Global Terrorism. 9/11 Five Years Later: Successes and Challenges

In the aftermath of the 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, the President led an historic transformation of the Government, improving our ability to protect and defend the Homeland, our citizens, and our installations, assets, and interests abroad. As a result, we are now better informed of terrorist threats, with improved intelligence collection and analysis painting a more complete picture; and we are better organized to address the threat, with a more robust information sharing capability and a greater capacity for coordinated and integrated action. Terrorist Attacks Fell 18 Percent in 2008, Report Says (2009-04-30)
The number of terrorism attacks worldwide in 2008 fell 18 percent from 2007, and the number of deaths from attacks last year fell 30 percent from 2007, the State Department reports in its annual report on terrorism. “Al-Qaida and associated networks continued to lose ground,” the report said. 2008 Country Reports on Terrorism | Briefing on 2008 Country Reports on Terrorism (2009-05-01)
